Course Description
Over the course of the semester, students will explore advanced concepts of multimedia performance, while demonstrating skills and critical approaches to creating multi-media works. This is a project-based course that is designed to bring together the methods and practices of live performance and digital media, both time based and interactive/spontaneous. In this course, interdisciplinary teams will stage performances/experiences. This course will emphasize the technical mechanics of trans-media (multi-media, mixed media – this stuff has a lot of names ) performances, but will also cover concepts of lighting design, sound design, set design, costume design, narrative creation (story and character), dramaturgy, and interdisciplinary teamwork. Students will come from different disciplines and bring their various skills to the creative process.
